Austin Eddy

About

Austin Eddy created an incredible body of work on the Liquitex International Residency, using his interest in patterns from Pennsylvania Dutch quilts and his daily explorations of London as initial reference points. Reflecting his primary concern with painting itself, Austin breaks his work down into shapes and colours rather than emphasizing a narrative. With an experimental approach to materials, Austin worked with our mediums in a fresh way, using them as an adhesive to collage and to provide a textured ground for later layers of paint. He gave new qualities to our materials as he adapted their purpose to fit his needs. Discover how he got on at the Griffin Gallery Studios below.
